Ep. 17 - All of Us or None of Us (Part 2)
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
In the 2nd half of my conversation with my friend THE Reverend Dr. Aizaiah Yong, we continue discussing the intersectionality of religion, race and overcoming white supremacy, but we get into why it is important and necessary to not fall prey to the systems that try to pin us against each other. Rather, what truly disrupts and dismantles these systems of oppression is acknowledging that we are ALL in this together.

This week I had the chance to connect with one of my best friends, THE Reverend Dr. Aizaiah Yong. Z and I have been coworkers, conference copresenters, we hooped together, all of it. This is one of my bros. In this episode, we talk about his multicultural and multiracial identity and how that has played a role in the past year, the intersectionality of religion, race, and overcoming white supremacy.

Thursday Feb 18, 2021
In this 2nd part of my convo with B, we talk more about labels and stereotypes and the emotional weight that comes with being someone we are not, along with anti-blackness racism and how we care for our mental health and be authentically Black with a capital B in spaces that are not designed for us.

Ep. 14 - I Am Who I Am (Part 1)
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
Thursday Feb 11, 2021
This week I talk with my guy, Brannon Andrews. In the first part of this two-part conversation, we talk about labels and stereotypes that are placed on us as Black men, the ones we choose to place on ourselves, and how we are both learning to unburden ourselves with the need to make others comfortable with our Blackness.

Ep. 13 - 2020, What The Hell Was That?
Friday Jan 15, 2021
Friday Jan 15, 2021
In this episode, I try my best to reflect on the trash ass year that was 2020.⠀⠀A global pandemic 😷.⠀Economic instability 📉.⠀Racial inequity and civil unrest ✊🏾.⠀Our Democratic processes & Presidential election being undermined by an 🍊.⠀The incredible amount of loss 🙏🏾.
I walk through a simple reflection guide I put together on my IG Page that consists of three questions to help process 2020:
What in 2020, can I be grateful for?
What will I leave in 2020?
What will I take into 2021?
I also spend some time talking about some celebrations from last year, because you have to find some joy in the mess.

Ep. 12 - Am I Helping or Hurting?
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
Wednesday Dec 09, 2020
This week I sat down with one of my best friends, David Beavis. It's actually because of David that we are as good of friends as we are. He is one of those kinds of people that are naturally great friends. The kind that is intentional and remembers most of the little things you tell them, check in on you consistently, support your dreams. It's kind of annoying. It's for these reasons and many more reasons why I chose him to be one of the best men at my wedding. That's why it sucked when David and Luara, his wife, moved up to Portland.
David and I talk about his dream of being a pastor, what it means for him as a white man in America, and given all that has happened with equity and justice in the year 2020, I ask how his approach to his job as a Pastor has changed and he shares how he hopes the Church engages in this pivotal moment in history.

Ep. 10 - Are You Tired Yet? With Gustavo Boldrini (Part 1)
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
Wednesday Oct 07, 2020
This week I sat down with my guy, Gustavo Boldrini, from the Goose is Loose Podcast. I was excited for the conversation for a couple of reasons: one, this is the first of many collabs to come; two, we always have some great conversations on politics, society, faith, and life in general. Gustavo is a husband to his wonderful wife Chelsea, he is a soon to be lawyer, a Christian, and an ex-libertarian. He and his mom immigrated from Brazil when he was a kid and is now a U.S citizen. He and his wife both identify as Afro-LatinX and that has led to some very interesting dynamics as they have navigated being a Black couple in predominantly white spaces.
I respect the hell out of this dude because Goose is one of those dudes that will always do what he says he will do. He is always thinking about others and what is best for the people he cares about. That truly comes out in this conversation, as we discuss politics, faith, and what its like living life as a Black person in Orange County.

Ep. 9 - Real Moments: True Cost of Allyship
Friday Aug 28, 2020
Friday Aug 28, 2020
A short episode on what I feel it means to be an Ally. I touch on the shooting of Jacob Blake and the white supremacist, Kyle Rittenhouse and why a clear dedication to allyship is necessary to capitalize on the Black Lives Matter movement's recent surge.
I outline what an ally is and is not, why it is important to be ALL in and commit, and why we must all stay vigilant in a pivotal time in modern American history.

Ep. 8 - Sometimes You Just Have to Breathe
Friday Aug 14, 2020
Friday Aug 14, 2020
This week I sit down with my sister-in-law, Robin.
This was a fun chat, where I ask first impressions of me and what it was like meeting her sister’s Black boyfriend? Her growth in the conversation of Diversity and Inclusion, mental health, and the importance of self-love, and what friendships are like in a drastically changing and polarizing world.
